Hello and welcome to my very first blog post. You can call me The Trivia Sage.
Yes! That’s right! The Trivia Sage. You can see two special words on my alias, “trivia” and “sage”. I love trivia and I consider myself as a ‘triviaholic’ person. I love to learn specially when it is something new. I have this passion of sharing my knowledge to different types of people. If you are triviaholic person, then you are in the right site.
Now let us begin with our very first trivia.
Introduction to Trivia
What does “Trivia” mean?
The word, trivia refers bits of information often of little importance. Well, even if these bits of information are unimportant, these are amusing facts that can be used in the future. Trust me. When I joined a quiz bee together with my office-mate, these bits of information become important suddenly and its very useful. It really help us a lot and I am very proud because we won in that competition.
The word trivia is a plural form of the word, trivium and both are Latin words which means “the place where three roads meet”. These are the three lower artes liberales (i.e. grammar, logic, and rhetoric). These subjects of the trivium are the foundations for the quadrivium the upper division for medieval studies which comprises of arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy. Educationally, the trivium and quadrivium that are imparted to the students of medieval studies are the seven liberal arts of classical antiquity.
What is a Sage?
Well it has two meaning actually. The first is that it is a type of plant. A small evergreen sub-shrub used as a culinary herb.
It has woody stems, grayish leaves and blue to purple colored flowers. It’s scientific name is Salvia Officinalis.
A sage is a profoundly wise man which is featured in ancient history or legend. A learned man having profound wisdom (like Buddha and Confucius).
Some Trivia about myself
I’ve decided to write a blog because I am currently bored on what I am doing right now. By the way, I am a software developer and currently employed to a multi-national IT company. I’ve been there for almost five years and I consider myself as a person looking for stress (and sometimes trouble. Just kidding.).
When my mind is exhausted, I always find myself listening on classical music. This music genre really refreshes my brain and it helps me to think clearly. I have a pet cat and his name is Kovu and he loves to lick my face. What a weird cat. He was named after Kovu from The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride.
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong about learning continuously. Knowledge is something I consider as a treasure because this is something that you can use in the future.
Now I am leaving here a quote from one of the founding fathers of the United States of America and I hope you get inspired:
“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” – Benjamin Franklin
Knowledge has a beginning but it has no end and it has no value unless you put it into practice.
Let’s begin our journey in the world of trivia and let me be your tour guide. I hope you learn a lot on this very first blog post. Expect more amusing content on this blog.
